Interview with Adam Marsland
Replacements history? I (Adam Marsland) came to the Replacements late in my musical life...probably about '93, when Rivers Cuomo loaned me his copy of "Tim," which I never gave back. They were part of my growing awareness of how '80s and '90s modern rock bands connected with the older music that I had grown up with, which was a revolution for me and directly resulted in Cockeyed Ghost. So the Replacements' influence on us, and on a zillion other bands like ours, can't be overstated. I was always personally drawn to the slower, twangier tunes that sounded like they were recorded at 1 a.m. in some half-empty bar in Tucson. I love that kind of atmosphere. We're pleased to be able to record a tune by a really cool band, and also a tune that is very apropos as we've recently experienced first hand "the storyline" of "I.O.U."
